In this column I want to talk in depth about our Competition Car Line batteries for 2016 and also quickly look back upon the TITC that was held in Bangkok, Thailand.
LiPo Competition Car Line Battery Packs 2016

Last year, our new LiPo Competition Car Line Batteries really took off in the scene. We took this as motivation to further improve and develop our batteries and to tune them even more for the racing competitions. These are pure bred high-end competition batteries – nothing more, nothing less. Our R&D team was able to broaden the range, ensuring that you always have the best possible configuration for your needs and an advantage over your competitors. Now, we really can say: “You name it, we got it!”

Along the line, R&D came up with the revolutionizing HDS-6- High-Density Stacking technology. This constitutes an LRP exclusive cell stacking and electrolyte technology against swelling for a longer cycle life. Furthermore these batteries exhibit our new P5 technology that is 5mm gold plated battery plugs for lowest contact resistance and maximum power. To smooth over the change from 4mm to 5mm connectors, you will receive free 5mm Gold Works Team connectors with every 2016 Competition Car Line battery (not with #430249) and also a free 5mm to 4mm Gold Works Team adapter. In my opinion, this should really push aside any hesitation on your side.

Now I want to take some time to introduce four noteworthy new batteries out of the whole line. Firstly, there are the two saddle packs, the Shorty Saddle P5 (430242) and the Small Saddle P5 (430243) with 3900mAh each. Both of them are a world premiere in 4WD Modified. The Shorty Saddle P5 hardcase enables you to move your battery halves to the front or the rear of your car to significantly influence the weight distribution of your car and therefore adjust front and rear end grip. This system has already been used with Shorty battery packs in 2WD Offroad with great success. Now it is also available for cars with Saddle Pack battery configuration. The Small Saddle P5 in contrast is a special, narrower Saddle Pack hardcase. This enables you to move the battery halves to the inside or the outside of the car greatly influencing the cornering and jump behaviour of your car. Manage the aggressiveness of your car by moving the halves inside for more agility or moving them outside for more stability. This is a brand new tuning option for all Saddle Pack chassis layouts that has never been available before.

The new Real Shorty LCG P5 battery (430239) with 4000mAh combines the benefit of our standard Shorty pack with those of our Shorty LCG pack. It therefore offers the best possible power/weight/height ratio of all of our Offroad batteries and is therefore of course the perfect battery to start with. It features a lower hardcase design that will lower the centre of gravity while maintaining the high power output that you are used to from our standard Shorty pack enabling higher cornering speed while making the car easier to drive.

Lastly, I am proud to announce our first Competition Car Line 4S battery, the LRP 6600 1/8 4S P5 LiPo battery (430246). This one is perfect for E-buggies with standard battery configuration. It is easy to use and has tons of power and more than enough capacity, giving you high and consistent power output. You just can’t go wrong with it.

As I already mentioned earlier, we have extremely broadened the LiPo Competition Car Line within the last two years. We can now truly offer the perfect battery for every RC racing application possible!

TITC Bangkok

The 2016 edition of the Thailand International Touring Car Championship, or better known as TITC, was held again at the RC Addict race track in Bangkok. A total of 250 drivers were in attendance. The conditions were extreme in every way. Asphalt temperatures exceeding 60°C in combination with a bumpy track created truly challenging conditions for the drivers. In the Touring Car Modified, team driver Ronald Völker was representing LRP. After the qualifying, reigning 4WD Offroad World Champion Bruno Coelho had secured TQ with Meen Vejrak and our own Ronald Völker in second and third.

The spectators saw a close fight in A-Main 1 between Bruno and Meen, with Bruno coming in first. Ronald had to settle for third place only shortly ahead of Alex Hagberg. The second A-Main saw Bruno having technical issues that led to him quitting the run. Ronald was able to take the lead and win A-Main 2 ahead of former World Champion Marc Rheinard and Alexander Hagberg. A-Main 3 had to decide the Champion between Bruno and Ronald. Bruno kept the lead from the start and won in a tight fight again ahead of Meen in second and Ronald once a gain in third. This made Bruno Coelho the new 2016 Thailand International Touring Car Champion. LRP team driver Ronald Völker finished second, due to the better tie-breaker, ahead of Meen Vejrak. Marc Rheinard came in fourth and Alexander Hagberg fifth. Congratulations to all drivers!
