LRP Column - April 2017

04.04.2017
In our new column, I want to talk about the latest technological development in Nitro competition engines. But I won’t stop there and also talk a little bit about the first ever Antix by LRP RC car and the TITC 2017 held in Bangkok.
LRP ZZ.21C Ceramic Square Stroke Nitro Competition Engine

Once again, our product management joint their forces with Nitro engine specialists O.S. Engines to cooperate in the development of the revolutionary new LRP Nitro engine ZZ.21C Ceramic Square Stroke exclusively made by O.S. Engines. Besides cooperating with O.S., we also heavily relied upon the invaluable input of our two top Nitro drivers Neill Cragg and Davide Ongaro who were at the forefront of the development at all stages.

The distinctive feature about square stroke engines is the fact that the bore is the same as the stroke. This results in a very linear power feel for the driver, with a smooth bottom end and massively increased mileage – even when compared to our Long Stroke engine. The LCG cooling head design is also brand-new and leads to a significantly improved handling and jumping of the car. Even if you initially do not feel this advantage when using this engine the first time, a back-to-back test with a standard sized head will change your mind.

The new design of the engine leads to a quite distinctive and cool new look. To be honest, when I have first seen this design, I did not like it very much as it looks so different. But the longer you look at it, the better it gets. It will surely turn some heads in the pits. Davide Ongaro recently texted me about the new LCG head“more steering and more stable in jumps”. That basically cuts a long story short!  Look out for this amazing piece of high-end competition technology!

Antix by LRP MT-1 Electric Monstertruck

Our new brand Antix by LRP just released its very first RC car. Already known for the high-quality budget batteries, we now take the next step to broaden our product range there. What better than to start with an amazingly low-priced high-quality RTR Monstertruck in 1:12 scale size. Many features can be found on this car, that you will usually only find in much higher priced cars like ball bearings throughout, heavy-duty drive shafts, sealed gear box and high-grip Monster tyres.

This car is perfectly suited to get your kids, relatives, friends and neighbours acquainted with our great hobby at a very affordable price. The 1:12 scale paired with the reliable electronics and digital proportional 2.4GHz transmitter system makes it really easy to drive. Perfect for your first steps into the RC-world. With a speed of up to 35mh/h, you can really bash around your backyard with your friends. It is always more fun sharing your hobby with others and with a really reasonable price, there shouldn’t be too many obstacles to achieve this.

TITC Bangkok

Asia’s biggest Onroad touring car race once again had all the big names in it. Reigning TC Modified World Champion and LRP team driver Ronald Völker was in attendance as well as the events runner up Bruno Coelho and former World Champions like Jilles Groskamp.

For Jilles, it is his home turf. And he did perform like being on his home turf. With Ronald having difficulties in qualifying, it was Jilles and Bruno who battled it out for TQ. In the end, Bruno came away with it shortly ahead of Jilles. In the opening A-Main, Bruno was able to win with ease. But in the second, it was Nicolas Lee who won, after Bruno crashed out of the final after being pressured by Jilles. In A-Main 3, Jilles again attacked Bruno and after a small collision, the window opened up for Ronald to take the lead and cruise to the victory of A-Main 3. Due to the faster win in A-Main 1, Bruno became the TITC Champion ahead of A-Main 2 winner Nicolas Lee and A-Main 3 winner Ronald Völker. The third place for Ronald was still a great success when looking back at how the event unfolded for him.

A total of 3 drivers in the A-Main relied on the Blue electronic products from LRP. Ronald again equipped his car the LRP Flow X TC Spec speedo, the Vector X20 motor and the Competition Car Line battery.
