LRP X22 Brushless motors
The upcoming LRP X22 Brushless competition car motor line will be replacing the incredibly successful X20 motors. Having won 3 World Championship titles, two in Offroad and one in Onroad, multiple European Championships and countless National and ETS titles in both On- and Offroad, the X20 is almost impossible to surpass.
But our engineers set out to exactly manage that feast and were able to come up with a motor that will be once again a new benchmark when it comes to power, reliability and exceptional driving control while efficiency and maximum power could once again be pushed further.
The new X22 motors received an ultra-lightweight, precision machined 7075-T6 aluminium housing with maximised cut-outs and additional openings on the flat parts to further increase the cooling surface and lower the running temperatures due to improved airflow even at maximum loads. But the most noticeable change has been made at the surface of the housing. The X22 got an incredibly cool looking “dark shine black” highest quality anodizing with X22 engraving that will make it look outstanding in every chassis.
In order to enable an even more precise timing setting, the timing range has been precisely adjusted and optimized from 14.5° to 34.5°. Also a novelty by our engineers is the new 2017 specification, dual-axis balanced sintered rotor shaft with a longer mounting surface. The internals were updated for higher efficiency and vibration free operation while smaller dual precession 4x10x4 ABEC-5 bearings are able to provide very precise running and longevity. The new PCB board specification ensures even lower resistance. Our unique waterproof PrecisSensorTM assures precise operation with any speed control and offers additional advantage when paired with the LRP speed controller line. LRP FlowX, LRP X22 Brushless motor and the LRP GRAPHENE Competition Car Line LiPo batteries will be the benchmark competition drive system for the foreseeable future.
The X20 motor will be available in odd and even turns starting at 3.5T and going all the way up to 10.5T. These variations will gradually become available. The first batch will include the 4.5T, 5.5T, 6.5T, 7.5T and 8.5T versions. Our R&D team also has a new high-end competition Stock motor in the pipeline that will be released at a later time.
Neo Race 2017
The international LRP 1/8 Offroad team did once again spend the Easter weekend in the UK. The famous Neo Race was drawing the complete world elite to Great Britain. Even the North American aces Tebo, Tessman and Maifield were in attendance. For the LRP team, supported onside by Andy Krämer, the most promising drivers were emerging Italian Davide Ongaro and Offroad veteran Neil Cragg.
The first event, the OR8e race, saw lots of drama right from the beginning. TQ Ryan Maifield’s speedo caught fire in the warmup lap, taking him out of the equation even before the race started. In the following laps a battle between Ty Tessman and Eliott Boots developed with Davide Ongaro’s LRP powered AE RC8B3.1e lying in wait close behind. A mistake by Elliott in lap 16 also ended all hope for him, letting Tessman cruise to the win. Close behind, Davide was able to secure the runner up sport ahead of Darren Bloomfield. The LRP electronics package of iX8 V2 speedo, Dynamic 8 2400kv motor and P5-HV TC Stock Spec GRAPHENE 8000mAh batteries worked absolutely reliable and kept Davide in contention for the whole race.
But the best was still to come. In the Nitro final, Ryan Maifield had the lead early on ahead of Davide, who was racing with his AE RC8B3.1 this time, equipped with the powerful ZZ.21C Ceramic engine and the Screamer-93 pipe. Still in the early stages of the final, Davide was able to overtake Ryan with a strong move and kept the lead until the end to secure his first ever Neo title. This made an already highly successful event for Davide and LRP perfect. Congratulations, Davide to your impressive weekend!
AOC Shanghai
At the same time as the Neo race, the AOC in Shanghai was kicking off with round one taking place. In the Modified competition, LRP team driver Akio Sobue had a great qualifying and took the TQ in dominant fashion. He also continued to dominate the field in the A-Mains with his INFINITY powered by LRP Flow X Modified (setting: 3-3-6-1-2-0-/-/-2), X20 Stock Spec 4.5T motor (27.5° timing, 12.5mm magnet) and P5-HV TC LCG Stock Spec GRAPHENE 6400mAh battery. After wins in A-Main 1 and 2, he had already crowned himself the champion. All left to decide were runner up and third place. Due to a dramatic win in A-Main 3, Naoto Matsukura was able to snag the second place from third place finisher Alexander Hagberg. It seems that Easter is a very good time for our LRP team drivers. Congratulations Akio to your dominating win!
